In
2000, Bob Guerra, owner and founder of
Superstar Productions, wrote the show,
dedicated to his nephews who joined the
armed forces. He thought it wouldn't sell
at any other time but Memorial Day, Fourth
of July or Flag Day.
''I
never thought I'd make my money back,''
Guerra said.
But
after Sept. 11, everything changed.
''We
got asked to do Tiki full time, September,
October and November throughout Florida
and even in New York,'' Guerra said. ``It
seems that we get asked to do this show
more and more in September now.''
Guerra
re-dedicated his show to include his childhood
friend, Steven Pollicino, who died on
9/11, and added the history quiz to promote
awareness.
''Usually,
we do quizzes when we do the Broward schools,
so I thought it's interesting how many
people don't know about their country,''
Guerra said. ``So we incorporate the questions
to help people learn. They come up during
the show itself through our songs.''
The
Sunrise Civic Center Theatre will celebrate
Halloween with a ''slightly'' scary dance
program featuring the tales of Hansel
and Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood.
The audience is expected to come in costume,
ready for a dramatic trick or treat after
the performance.
The
theater is at 10610 W. Oakland Park Blvd.,
Sunrise.
